I love steak. The sole thought of a juicy rib eye, T-bone or tenderloin steak waters my mouth. As much as I have a passion for steaks, I also find it quite hard to find places that offers the best steak in Bahrain which serve really good, high quality steaks.
I was lucky to visit “Le Sauvage”, the award winning steakhouse at the famous Domain Hotel, located within the heart of the Diplomatic area, the central business district of Manama. Besides many regional awards, “Le Sauvage” is also a chosen winner of “Chaine des rotisseurs”, a highly qualified international gastronomy organization.
“Le Sauvage” (French word meaning “the wild”) has much more to offer than exquisite steaks. The restaurant is situated on the 34th floor and provides a breathtaking 360 view over Bahrain. I was absolutely overwhelmed by the sparkling skyline and the glamorous restaurant. It is a “one of a kind” French styled restaurant. It starts with the well trained friendly staff; they made me feel very comfortable by fulfilling all my wishes.
For dinner I had the choice from two “Daily Carnivore Combos”: steak & ribs or steak & prawns. I am a surf & turf fan, so I went for the steak & prawns combo. The Domain sommelier is highly educated and happy to advise a wine accompaniment.
As usual the dinner started with bread, but at Le Sauvage bread is not just bread. It is an Italian herbed focaccia with basil pesto, served warm and freshly baked from The Domain’s in-house bakery. I never thought bread could taste so delicious! Of course my expectations were high now, and frankly I didn’t get disappointed.
The amuse gueule was an apple cinnamon infusion with an in-house made olive. I didn’t even know that you could “make” olives, but seems like everything is possible at Le Sauvage. You won’t believe it if I tell you, it was the softest olive I have ever eaten… it melts in your mouth and makes you crave for more. It’s the little things that make this restaurant outstanding. At this point I already thought it couldn’t get any better or more creative, until the highlight of the night was served: a smoking orange-mango sorbet, a real treat full of drama in its appearance, covered in an icy haze. Definitely a must try.
And last but not least the main course was served. A Black Angus sirloin steak with 300g tiger prawns and white truffled mashed potatoes beautifully decorated with cherry tomatoes, green beans and sauces on a rustic stone plate. The steak was to die for, rich in flavour, juicy and tender – simply the best steak in Bahrain. The truffled mashed potatoes were exceptionally delicious and creamy. What an experience! Excellent food surrounded by a breathtaking view, I couldn’t ask for more. It’s perfect for a romantic dinner as well as for a night out with friends or family. There is no better way to enjoy an excellent dinner with a stunning view, it raises your dinner to a whole new level, and therefore, Le Sauvage is without a doubt the best steak restaurant in Bahrain.
If you fancy a drink or cigar to end your dinner smoothly, you might want to take the elevator to the 36th floor to visit the comfortable cigar lounge or the fashionable Txoko Bar – of course both with an exceptional panoramic view.
The Domain Hotel has some really exciting events you don’t want to miss.
Do you enjoy going to the cinema? Then you will love the “Classics” at The Domain Hotel: A cinema in the sky experience on the 36th floor with a butler service, followed by dinner at the “Le Sauvage”.
If you prefer classical music, the “Opera Nights” might be your best choice, combining glorious live music with a French inspired dinner.
And what are your plans for this Halloween? Ever partied with ghosts and witches on the 36th floor with a 360 view? No? Then it’s your chance on October 28th at The Domain Hotel.
See you there!
